About me:

Two things:
1. sustainedsound - I work with extreme time stretching and layering to create long, slow soundscapes. I use natural materials and other performers as sound sources, and maxmsp and mixbus as my main sound transforming tools. Currently I'm working a lot with the spoken word - a genre I call "electroacoustic poesetics". Lots of examples on my soundcloud page - soundcloud.com/davidestevens
When I have the opportunity, I also create interactive metal/software sculptures. Here's a hand-held video of a piece for the Magna Science centre in Rotherham - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gF-FsIQ0-uQ
2. interactive sound/light workshops for special needs, and senior citizens in care homes. A sensor controlled music/light system built in maxmsp. Through eyemusic (colourscape) I run week-long workshops leading to some kind of a perfomance at the end of the week. I've been working with the whole spectrum of special needs for about 10 years, and have just started a series of workshops in Care Homes for the Elderly in the London area. Info and video on the Education pages at http://www.eyemusic.org.uk
